DAY 3 - TUESDAYCape TownDepart the hotel for your full day tour of the Cape Peninsula, an unforgettable journey to the mythical meeting place of the two great oceans. Breathtaking scenic beauty contrasts with the harsh rugged conditions of the most south-westerly edge of the continent. Highlights include: Clifton beaches, Hout Bay & Mariners’ Wharf, Chapman’s Peak Drive, Cape Point & Nature Reserve, Penguin Colony at the Boulders and Historic Simon’s Town. (excl. entry to penguins) Overnight at the SOUTHERN SUN WATERFRONT (B) DAY 4 - WEDNESDAY You will be collected from your hotel to begin your tour of the Garden Route. En route, stop off in the town of Barrydale, where you will have the opportunity to visit a local farm school, interact with the children and teachers, spending time with them in the classroom learning more about the local farming community, before continuing to Oudtshoorn, the “ostrich feather capital” and centre of the world’s Ostrich farming industry. Overnight at: QUEENS HOTEL or similar (B,D) DAY 5 - THURSDAY This morning you’ll visit an Ostrich Farm for a guided tour before visiting the spectacular limestone caverns of the Cango Caves, one of the world’s great natural wonders, sculpted by nature through the ages. In the afternoon you’ll continue to Knysna, known as the oyster box of South Africa, nestling on the banks of a beautiful lagoon in the heart of the Garden Route. Overnight at: PROTEA HOTEL KNYSNA QUAYS or similar (B) DAY 6 - FRIDAY After a leisurely breakfast you’ll enjoy a lagoon cruise to the Featherbed Nature Reserve, where you can take a trailer ride to the top of the Western Head to enjoy panoramic views of the town and lagoon, returning for lunch under the milkwood trees. The afternoon is at leisure to further explore this charming town set around a natural harbour lagoon. Overnight at: PROTEA HOTEL KNYSNA QUAYS or similar (B,L) DAY 7 - SATURDAY Head eastwards along the Garden Route, which follows the Indian Ocean coastline and is bordered inland by soaring mountain ranges and indigenous forests, to Port Elizabeth. Port Elizabeth, known as the “friendly city”, has a wonderful climate and is well known for its oceanarium and snake house (for own account). Arrive at your hotel in the late afternoon. Overnight at: GARDEN COURT KINGS BEACH or similar (B,D) DAY 8 - SUNDAY After breakfast, travel to the renowned Addo Elephant National Park. This Park offers some of the most spectacular elephant viewing in the world. Antelope species abundant in the main game area of the park include red hartebeest, eland, kudu and bushbuck while Gemsbok, black wildebeest, springbok, buffalo and black rhino are found in the arid nama-karoo area. Afterwards transfer to Port Elizabeth airport for the northward flight to Johannesburg, where youwill be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to relax at your hotel. Overnight at: SOUTHERN SUN SANDTON CITY or similar (B) DAY 9 - MONDAY This morning you will be collected from your hotel and head east via Nelspruit, White River and Hazyview to spectacular Mpumalanga. Arrive at your safari hotel set in indigenous forests. Freshen up before your African safari begins in the afternoon. Enter the world famous Kruger National Park, unrivalled in its diversity of flora and fauna and spend the afternoon game viewing in an open safari vehicle. Returng to the lodge as the dinner drum sounds and enjoy dinner under the stars in a traditional African Boma (weather permitting). Overnight at: PROTEA HOTEL KRUGER GATE LODGE or similar (B,D) DAY 10 - TUESDAY Enjoy an early morning breakfast before experiencing the spectacular “Panorama Route”, offering views of amazing scenery including the 26 kilometre-long Blyde River Canyon, historic God’s Window, a breathtaking view (weather permitting) of the edge of the escarpment taking in the Kruger National Park and Lisbon Falls, the highest waterfall in the area. Return to the lodge in time for lunch (own account) and spend the remainder of the day at leisure around the pool or viewing deck overlooking the Sabie River. Overnight at: PROTEA HOTEL KRUGER GATE LODGE or similar (B,D) DAY 11 - WEDNESDAY Enjoy an early morning open vehicle game drive through the Kruger National Park. The park offers some of the best game viewing and wildlife opportunities in the world – and the visitor will soon appreciate the challenges of managing this unique reserve. Breakfast will be served on your return to the lodge. The remainder of the day is at leisure to enjoy the lodge facilities, before joining an open vehicle game drive in the early afternoon. Overnight at: PROTEA HOTEL KRUGER GATE LODGE or similar (B,D) DAY 12 - THURSDAY Depart for early morning game viewing on an open safari vehicle in the Kruger National Park with an experienced game ranger who will endeavor to spoil you with sightings of the ‘Big Five’, general game, and prolific bird life. After returning to the lodge for a sumptuous breakfast, your safari ranger will drive you to Johannesburg. Depart from this wildlife haven via Sabie and over the scenic Long Tom Pass to Lydenburg. Continue via Dullstroom to Johannesburg arriving in the early evening at approximately 19h00. Overnight at PEERMONT METCOURT (B) DAY 13 - FRIDAY After breakfast, you will be transferred the O.R. Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg) for your homeward flight or connect on to Victoria Falls.
